What is changing on the web site and your online account?

We have made a number of improvements to the web site and your online account as follows:

  • The Scheme web site and the secure online account which you log into for your benefits held in the DB section of the Scheme is having a branding refresh. This will include a new cleaner look and feel which will also be easier to use on mobile phones and tablets.
  • If you hold multiple records of service in the DB section, you will now be able to use one single login to view your multiple records.
  • If you have any problems logging into your online account and wish to reset your password, you will now be able to do this yourself online rather than having to request a new activation code from us, sent through the post.
  • Once you log in to your online account, you will be presented with a new dashboard which will summarise the key personal details that we hold for you and your pension benefits held in the DB Section of the Scheme.
  • You will be able to update some of your personal details that we hold for you (such as your email address and phone number) through your online account.
  • If you have also invested any Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) in the DC Section of the Scheme (via the Mobius Life Investment Platform), we will also be updating your DC online account in February – look out for a separate communication which will explain that further nearer the time.
  • We have also made a number of changes and improvements to the technology which the web site is hosted on to improve it’s security and performance.

How to access your secure online account from Thursday 21st January

To access your secure online account once the web site has been upgraded, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. Enter the Scheme’s web site address into your internet browser as follows: www.abfpensions.com
  2. Click on the red Log In button in the top right corner of the web site, then click on the “Defined Benefit Section – ABF” or “Defined Benefit Section – British Sugar” button (depending on which Section you are a member of).
  3. You will then be presented with the login screen for your secure online account.
  4. Enter your member ID from any one of your records which you have previously registered a secure online account for in the login / email box.
  5. Enter the corresponding password which you have previously used to log into your secure online account.
  6. You will then be prompted to provide the following:
    1. Your email address – this will be used to login in future (instead of your member ID), send you email notifications from the web site and to help you reset your password in future if needed.
    2. A new password – to help keep your online account secure you will need to choose a new password, which must be at least 14 characters long, contain at least one uppercase letter, at least one lowercase letter and at least one number.
    3. A memorable passphrase – in addition to your password, we are also introducing a memorable passphrase. This must be at least 8 characters long. This must be different to the password you have chosen.
  7. The web site will then send an email to the email address you provided, containing a link which you will need to click on.
  8. Once you have clicked on the link in the email, you will be directed back to the web site to log in.
  9. You can now log into your secure account, but instead of entering your member ID, you should now enter your email address and the new password which you have just provided, then click on the Login button.
  10. You will then be prompted to enter three specific characters from your memorable passphrase/word, then click continue.
  11. You will then arrive at the new dashboard for your secure online account. You can switch which record you are viewing by clicking on the down arrow next to your name in the header at the top of the page.
