No-one likes to think about what will happen to their dependants if they die, but it is unfortunately a necessary detail. The Scheme provides various benefits under different circumstances – this section explains more about these.
Important - if you are an active member and joined the Scheme after 1st September 2012, you must provide information on any pre-existing medical conditions to be covered by the Scheme's death in service and ill health benefits. You can check if you are covered by looking at your most recent benefit statement or by calling the team on 0800 090 2267. If you have not nominated any beneficiaries (i.e. the person or people who you would wish to receive any benefits when you die), or if your nomination needs to be updated, you should complete a form as soon as possible.
