All death benefit lump sums paid by the Scheme are distributed in the way decided by the Trustee. The Trustee will take account of your wishes but is not legally bound by them. To make your wishes known to the Trustee you must complete a nomination form.
If you die in Pensionable Service and if a lump sum is payable to your spouse and /or dependant(s) they have a number of options when considering how they would like to receive the benefit. These are the same options that would apply to a member retiring from the Scheme. You can read more about these options by clicking here.
You can make a new nomination at any time through your secure online account once you are logged in. Click here to log in. Alternatively, you can complete a nomination form and return it to us using the address at the bottom of the form.
Please note: While we are able to accept forms sent by email, we cannot accept forms which have been signed with an electronic signature. To avoid delays to your transfer, please ensure you sign all documents with an actual ‘wet ink’ signature. If you use an electronic signature, we will be unable to process your request and you will be asked to recomplete the relevant form(s).
